Relaxation
Primarily during Sound Bath Healing Meditations or 1-2-1 sessions, attendees experience a sense of deep relaxation as the parasympathetic nervous system becomes engaged. Clinical trials have shown that the more time spent with the parasympathetic system activated the healthier we become. People suffering from insomnia or disruptive sleep patterning have had an immediate result after one of these sessions. It is though their nervous system has experienced a complete recalibration.
Circulation, Immunity & Pain Management
The relaxation experienced enables the body to enter into a period of resourcing and rejuvenation, which in turn encourages circulation and supports the immune system. This boost in circulation has shown incredible results in reducing pain and supporting pain management.
Self-Awareness
As participants move through these layers of relaxation, release and rejuvenation, many open to a new level of self-awareness. As we become more attuned to our bodies’ response to situations, for instance what resonates with us and what doesn’t, we can open to a deeper understanding of what is or isn’t good for us. This is extremely empowering as it enables us to make better choices on how to live a healthier and happier life and often does to an increase in confidence.
Confidence
This nurturing of confidence can also be supported through aftercare. Personally I share Mantras and Qi Gong exercises that I feel are appropriate and encourage clients to introduce these into their day. This is empowering and also enables the person to cultivate their own relationship with sound, energy, self–healing and find their own unique path into healing.
Emotional Release
Many experience an emotional healing during sound sessions. For instance, the release of tears carry with them held trauma from the nervous system whilst others experience feelings of joy, ecstasy or a deepening of spiritual connection. In my practise I combine my singing voice with the playing of the Himalayan singing bowls and gongs and 100% of clients have said it is this combination of voice and instruments that gives also them a heightened sense of personal care.
Healing The Voice
Kirtan classes and Community Choirs are on the rise in the UK and this is no surprise given the release of endorphins or oxytocin that occurs when we sing. Furthermore, the experience of singing in unison or in harmony creates a sense of community, which in itself is deeply nurturing and supportive. As many of us hold anxiety around not only our speaking but also our singing voices this particular area of sound healing is an unbelievably potent one to explore. With regards to singing mantras as we chant the Sanskrit prayers we are also connecting to the divine and the energy field that the Sanskrit words hold. Mantras sung in large groups can be unbelievably potent with their meditative and transformative qualities.
Creative Expression
I have witnessed many people coming to sessions who after a period of time, as their self-awareness and confidence grows begin to experience a deeper connection to their own creativity. Some have taken up instruments or are now singing in choirs.
