The whole idea behind the VINYL VIRAL release was I was trying to create something beautiful and practical whilst also introduce my Album, LIBELLUS into the world. To me artwork is a really important part of an album and there seems to be something very cold and detached about just releasing a download. You have spent all this time writing and recording, to then not be able to hold what you have created seems very disappointing. There are paintings by Beshlie Mckevlie that accompany each of the songs, they are beautiful and I am really proud of what we have achieved and I wanted people to see it.

However, I realised that record players are few and far between so by adding a download code people would actually be able to listen to it! Once each listener has entered their individual code (that can only be used once) they receive an email crowning them one of the singles ‘Offical Gatekeeper’s’. In the email there is also a download link, which they are asked to forward to as many people as possible thus allowing the song to travel for free around the world… I also thought people might be interested in the small story behind the making of this record, hence the booklet inside the vinyl…

There also seemed to be something genuinely lovely about putting the song in the hands of the people who support you, it seems more magical. That is why when I decided to do merchandise i got friends who make silk camisols to create the tops, I then found a guy who would silk screen one of Beshlie’s Fairy Queens onto the top rather than just bulk ordering t-shirts. The tops are really beautiful and there is somthing exciting about creating the unusal. I think it is addicitve. At the single release at Bush Hall we converted the venue into a Arcadian garden using 15foot paper lanterns of tulips and lillies, we entered lilliput and became pixies performing to the most attentive audience it was wonderful. I like getting lost in my imagination so why not create wierd and wonderful ideas like this?

Last night was fantastic.

Jig built the most beautiful stage and we created this enchanted garden. It was truly incredible.

This combined with an audience who just could not have been more enthusiastic and supportive made it a very very special night for us.

Right now we have to spread this track around the world!!

It seems this wee video clip has been journeying its way around the world… I lay claim to the man with the long brown hair!  Unfortunately i never met Christian but we grew up on the home movies!

They bought Christian from Harrods for 300 pounds back in the early 70s, and kept him in London in the shop they worked in ‘Gandalf´s Garden´until he was one. It was then they met Bill Travers who introduced them to George Adamson. Once they received permission from the Kenyan Government they flew with Christian to Nirobi to met George. George felt that it would be unlikely Christian would remember any of his natural instincts but was prepared to take on the challenge of rehabilitating him into the wild. It was at this point that the long haired lads had to return to london to allow Christian to meet Boy and Kitania who would become members of his first lion pride.

The footage below was taken when they returned to Kenya after not seeing Christian for a year.

This is an incredible story and the friendship between all three is truly beautiful, and i think it is fantastic that people all around the world have discovered it.

it is going to be an incredible night… come get involved

I am going to try and write a wee blog for each summer gig… but i have to admit to feeling a little brain dead after three gigs and four days of glastonbury, of which most was spent down…..



But thank you to Rich, Hamish and Lockett for wrapping me and Jo in the Rabbit hole madness. We crawled on all fours through a small door, down a rabbit hole into a Tipi with the Queen of Hearts onto a bus with king size speakers, with bed to match and a jacuzzi equipped with two naked men! What a reward for playing a gig.

Beforehand we had played on the Small World Stage in the Green fields and there was a small crew of folk who made there way up to watch us play for a second time at 8pm who were really lovely..

Big thank you also to Mark and Annabel who tredged for an hour across site to see us play on the bunny hole stage for a second time.
