We drove through the night to get there…… a wee village in north wales.. slept but a few hours and then up for the first of our 14 hour days. Theo Shaw who was the cameraman on my EPK put together a crew from all round the world to shoot a video for Black Seagull including Steve Teers (Diva Pix) and Cristian Castelnuovo two of the most incredible cameramen and stills photographers. Theo also managed to get hold of two amazing cameras that have only been available for filming for the last 2 months ….. ooooohhhhhhh
For the narrator we climbed barefoot down sheer faces, I sung in the base of waterfalls, in trees, gullies and run through the early morning light. Chin Yere made me the most incredible dress out of white bin bags..
For the second character, the sprite, clothes were changed and more weird and wonderful make up was painted on by Chin. This top was from The House Of Blue Eyes. For this wee nymph we drove up hill and dale to a new forest high on the hills at the magic hour. We shot this section on super 8 as i scampered up trees and danced with the little mirrors that spun off the shards on my top.
The last character, The Black Seagull herself was shot in the scariest of places, as the evening light began to fade away and we were left with the smoke from the embers and the pools of light that gathered at the base of the tall bare trees. I spun and ducked in the darkness. In one of the locations in the background sat three child size newly dug graves….. very very eerie.
We are editing the video now and you will be able to see the finished piece exclusively on the 3rd June at… yup you guess it Cafe De Paris at The Festival Of Libellus..
